I trust that this message finds you all well and, in spite of the weather, eager to get the sailing season started.
By now you have probably had the opportunity to review the minutes of our fall meeting and read Stephen Leavitt’s message with the various attachments.
I would like to make a special request for your consideration. At our May 1st meeting we are planning to have a pertinent discussion regarding the goals/directions and actions for our club. Please come to our May AGM prepared to share your ideas and offer your help to implement them. I am sure that as a team we can continue to work together cooperatively to enrich and strengthen our club.
People Power Day is July 20, 2013 from Noon to 4:00 pm.
During this event MSA members are asked to volunteer their sail boats to take the public on a short sail in the Marina area. In the past we have had great member involvement and we hope this year it will be the same.
The event is put on by the Department of Tourism and includes a BBQ on site at the marina as well as Canoe and Kayak rides. In past years the event has been popular and the Department of Tourism sees our Association as a key contributor. We see this a key to maintaining good park relations.
Acting on your direction at the AGM, members of the executive asked the Park for improvements to the facilities. The Park agreed. This should represent significant savings for the MSA. The new unit just arrived which will allow us to return the rented facility soon.
MSA-Park relations are key and we are all happy to see these type of positive happenings.
The skipper’s meeting is at 1pm and your Race Capitan is our Vice Commodore Rod Pickles. We have a number of people helping Rod but to make this race a successful as possible consider emailing Rod to offer to do a few chores on Sunday. We need race organizers, registration takers, timers, and BBQ chefs…. something for everyone!
